Connor LaRocque, is a businessman and the top leadership expert in Canada for millennials. He is also the CEO of SocialRise Inc, a motivational speaker, and the host of Life on the Rocques on Eastlink, TV.
Connor was born and raised in a small northern community in Sudbury Ontario, in Canada. When he was younger, he wanted to be a commercial lawyer, but quickly realized he had too much energy to work in a courtroom for a living.
“When I grew up I was a C student in high-school and didn’t get into university my first try. When I finally got into university I published two-books (1 hit the best-seller list) and signed with the same publicist as Madonna.” Connor shares.
After finishing his studies at university, Connor had different ventures. His brother started a company to sell ADT alarm systems door to door with him. This was not successful, plus they were selling in -40C degree weather.
“That didn’t work out so I switched the vehicle I was selling from. I went from selling door to door barely making a couple of hundred dollars, to selling construction products over the phone and producing hundreds of thousands for the company I was working for at the time.” Connor says.
Connor was then hired as a sales manager at one of the largest personal development events in North America. He was in charge of selling tickets at the Madison Square Garden in New York City, featuring names like Richard Branson and GaryVee.
Today, Connor is a TEDx speaker, has written two books, and is a top personality in Canada. He defines himself as an expert in helping business owners and entrepreneurs become leaders and turn massive attention online into conversions and sales for their businesses through his marketing strategies.
“I never fit the social norm of getting a job and doing a 9 to 5. I always wanted to live life on my terms. Everyone told me that growing up I would need to have a master’s or graduate degree to be successful, so I challenged that premise throughout my career.” Connor recounts.
It was this attitude and belief that he had a mission that was bigger than himself which pushed Connor to where he is at today. Connor currently does what he loves; he runs a company called SocialRise Inc.
“SocialRise Inc. is a national media company that specializes in lead generation and customer acquisitions. We do everything from marketing plans, to high-level video production, to website development and international sales.” Connor explains.
SocialRise Inc. works with various clients, acting as an internal marketing agency for each client meeting their specific needs throughout North America. Over the past several years they have worked with clients in industries such as mining, insurance, financial planning, education, retail, automotive, entrepreneurship, personal development, and health and wellness.
In today’s world, Connor believes that the biggest obstacles or challenges for companies are building a network of contacts and having the ability to get initial traction and keep momentum going. In addition, Connor advises those who are trying to start their own business to choose an industry that they are passionate about and that is profitable.
“You could be the best marketer in the world, but without any business or incoming prospects, you won’t survive. You may be the best salesperson in the world, but if you can’t convert and make money from it, then your return on investment is not tangible.” Connor states.
Furthermore, a fundamental part, if not the most important part of starting a business is to have a strong mindset. This is what will lead you to fulfill your goals.
“Mindset is everything! When you own a business you are responsible for everything. You have to take full ownership of your business or you will fail.” Connor says.
At the same time, mindset is not enough. People looking to start their own business also need to have the motivation and the energy to build their project.
“Make sure your business excites you and makes you money! Follow your energy because when times get tough you need to remember why you are doing it, you need to have a strong mission and purpose that is bigger than you! Business isn’t about you, it’s about what you can do for other people.” Connor advises.
Connor’s plans for the rest of 2020 include growing SocialRise Inc. into a leading marketing agency in Canada, and launching a new company called iReuzify! which will allow people to create their economy by monetizing their fixed assets.
